Setup, activation, and step-by-step usage guide
The tool is a .xlsm (macro-enabled workbook). You need Microsoft Excel 2016, 2019, 2021, or Microsoft 365 on a Windows 10 or 11 PC. Excel for Mac and LibreOffice are not supported.
In Tally Prime, go to F12 (Configure) → Advanced Configuration → Enable ODBC Server and set it to Yes. The default port is 9000. Tally must be running and the correct company must be open when you post.
Go to File → Options → Trust Center → Trust Center Settings → Macro Settings and choose "Enable all macros", or at minimum "Disable all macros with notification" and allow the workbook when prompted.
Go to buy.html, select TallyStock ExcelToTool, fill in your details, pay via UPI, and submit the payment screenshot.
After the admin verifies your payment (typically within 12 working hours), you'll receive an email containing:
• Your licence key in the format TSXL-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
• A download link for TallyStockJournal_ExcelToTool.xlsm
• Your GST invoice PDF
Click the download link in the email (or download from here if already logged in). Save the .xlsm file to a permanent folder on your PC (not a temp folder).
Double-click to open in Excel. Click Enable Content when prompted for macros.
On first open, a dialogue box asks for your licence key. Paste the TSXL-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX key from the email and click Activate.
The tool contacts our server, binds the key to your Windows computer, and stores the key in the Windows Registry under HKCU\SOFTWARE\AuthenticTech\TallyStockJournal\. You won't be asked again on this PC.
All data entry happens on the Journal Entry sheet. Each row is one stock item line within a journal voucher. Use the Voucher No. column to group multiple item lines into the same voucher.

Open Tally Prime and select the company you want to post into. Verify the XML server is enabled (F12 → Advanced Configuration → Enable ODBC Server = Yes).
Press the Validate Entries button in the tool's ribbon or on the control sheet. Any rows with issues are highlighted red with an explanation. Fix them before proceeding.
Press Post to Tally. The tool generates the XML payload and sends it to http://localhost:9000 (or your configured host). A progress bar shows the posting status.
After posting, the tool shows a summary: how many vouchers succeeded, how many failed, and the Tally error message for each failure. Successful rows are marked green; failed rows are marked red.
In Tally Prime, go to Vouchers → Stock Journal and verify the newly created entries. Always spot-check a few rows after the first batch post on a new configuration.
Tally Prime is not running, or the XML server port is disabled or set to a different port. Open Tally, enable the ODBC server, and confirm the port in Tally's Advanced Configuration. Update the port in the tool's Settings sheet if needed.
The key is either invalid or bound to a different computer. If you changed machines, email autech1402@gmail.com with your order reference to request a device transfer — it's free.
The name in your Excel sheet doesn't exactly match the master in Tally (check capitalisation, trailing spaces, and special characters). Open Tally, confirm the exact name, and update the Excel cell.
Click Enable Content in the yellow bar at the top of Excel. If the bar doesn't appear, check your Excel Trust Center settings (Macro Settings) and ensure the file isn't in a restricted folder like Downloads.
Email autech1402@gmail.com with your order reference number and a screenshot of the error. We typically respond within one business day.
